Above is a picture I took during the summer that I believe represents scale quite well. According to Lupton and Phillips, “No matter what size your work will ultimately be, it must have its own sense of scale”. In this particular case, the sense of scale is my co-worker at the top of the tree. Being that the picture was taken from a good distance, having Travis up there gives the audience a solid sense of depth; essentially an idea of how high up he might be. The viewer also gets an impression of the size of the log he has just cut as well as the tree he has scaled (no pun intended).
