Poster Remix Critique: Savannah Wright

I thought that this poster design was more effective because it automatically draws you eye to the main purpose of the poster. Also, the date and time added strokes bold certain phases so they are highlighted. Because of this, it helps viewers read the important aspects and get a bigger view of that the poster is about. After learning in class that the poster should be clear that it is poetry, I think this one is a great start because one could read it from across the room and if one is interested, will pursue it more. I also think that the subject is symmetrical because of the negative space I left in between certain phrases. This adds a nice balance to the whole composite because with a few improvements, the look can flow more natural.

I can improve my design by changing the shades of certain words to be gray. This way there will be more contrast within the poster, drawing the eyes to the more focused aspects of the poster. This will also help smaller phrases stand out even when they aren’t equivalent in size. I also want to lower the boldness in some letters to make them fit in more with the poster as a whole so it is more balanced. I also haven’t been able to figure out how to incorporate the lowercase and upper case phrases and which ones I should capitalize or not. Lastly, I want to work on adding the poet’s style in the poster as well. This way it can relate to them more and be more of a candidate to get chosen.
